COVENTRY City Ladies will be hosting a special gala evening to raise much-needed funds for the cash-strapped club.

Paul Cudby's side have made an impressive start to life in the top flight of women's football and currently sit fourth in the table with a top three finish in sight.

But the Sky Blues have struggled with the cost of playing in the Premier League National Division and their situation was made worse when current sponsors City Link decided to cease their sponsorship, two years into a three-year deal.

Now the club are holding a gala evening at the Ricoh Arena on Saturday February 4 with all money being raised on the night going to the club.

"The news of City Link's decision to terminate their sponsorship a year early has come as a blow to the whole squad and supporters,” said the club's commercial manager Bill Newnes.

"This decision will have an impact on the club but we are resilient and will overcome this development.

"There are exciting times ahead and anyone interested in supporting the club or attending the gala evening can contact me for more insight."

Tickets for the dinner are priced at £45 per head and will include a meal, wine, entertainment (band and post-meal speaker) and there will also be a raffle and an auction on the night.

For more information about the event contact Mr Newnes on 07917 720644 or email first team manager Paul Cudby on paulcudby@gmail.com
